"Amazing Grace" by The Rogues
Smokin' bagpipes and driving percussion make for a unique sound. Arrangements incorporate traditional, rock, bluegrass, and a little jazz and new age. There's nothing else like it. Amazing Grace as it was meant to be performed...on the bagpipes followed by a blazing reel. Now you can also order the CD from which this song comes directly from MP3.com and help The Rogues to climb the charts. "Live In Canada, Eh?" is a fantastic album that captures the spirit of The Rogues live show incredibly. "Red Is The Rose" by King Laoghaire
KING LAOGHAIRE is a group of six people who share a mutual interest in Irish/Celtic traditional and ballad music. Based in Sweden, the band first started in 1991 as an acoustic experiment in a rockbands (the Ex-Junkies) regular repertoire. In early 1992 the acoustic side of the band had taken over. I first found their website while looking for Celtic lyrics. It's an outstanding searchable resource. This beautiful Irish love song uses the same air as is used by "Loch Lomond". They lead the song with a beautiful flute solo before the vocals step and bring peace to your soul. "Killiecrankie" by Schiehallion
Kenny Jamieson & Angus Battison are the main members that form this band that's performed on the U.K. folk music circuit for the past ten years. Last week, I found a new favorite band and a new favorite song to boot. Schiehallion is the real deal. Straight from Dumbarton, UK, they perform a variety of traditional Celtic songs. Their MP3 site features in particular some amazing Scottish songs in the thickest brogue you're likely to hear. "Killiecrankie" is an amazingly performed traditional Scottish song about the battle in 1689, where winner, Graham of Claverhouse (Bonnie Dundee) was slain, ending Jacobite hopes. Their recording of this song is powerful, beautiful and about as understandable as our brobdingnagian. But that's okay! It is an amazing recording so, head on over there and download it.
