"Liverpool Judies" by Tourdion
Tourdion performs a variety of songs from the Brittish Isles from Scottish to Irish to Sea Shanties. They have quickly established themselves as a favorite among renaissance faire goers in the Midwest and were voted "Best New Act of 1998" by the Kansas City Renaissance Festival. (Where we will be performing starting September 1st:) This is a great rousing sea shanty that includes the tune "Kesh Jig". It features some great vocal harmonies, and is just an incredibly inspiring song. Kinda raises the hair on the skin. Tourdion did an oustanding job on this performance. "Lowlands of Holland" by Tara MacKenzie
Every now and then I just surf MP3.com looking for some new Celtic acts to add to the Muse. And every one and a while I find a bright shining gem. Tara McKenzie is just such a gem. A woman after my own heart, Tara is a singer/songwriter who performs traditional Irish songs. She has a beautiful voice that reminds me of Loreena McKennit, but I like Tara's voice better. She sings as a woman who is sure of herself with passion and romance. And she has a nice repetoire of songs on her site, all very enjoyable. Most Irish songs reflect A. Leaving Ireland B. Being Drunk C. Being forced to marry someone you dont want, and killing yourself or dying before your real boyfriend returns. This one reflect the latter, or at least it's close! :-p Hometown: Similar Artists: Loreena McKennit Website: Tara MacKenzieDownload MP3: none available Buy CD: CDs available through website

"Long Journey South" by Clandestine
Founded in 1991 as a pipe and drum ensemble, Clandestinen has evolved into an award-winning, high-energy band with a diverse repertoire which is firmly rooted in the Celtic tradition. I had a completely different lineup this week, but was so excited to see that Clandestine has finally uploaded some new songs to mp3.com from their latest live album that I decided to change the this week's Muse to celebrate Clandestine's new CD "Music From Home". Their latest album was recorded live at McGonigel's Mucky Duck in Houston, Texas. The sound quality is fantastic for a live album. "Long Journey South" is an exquisite ballad written by lead vocalist and guitarist Jennifer Hamel that will evoke memories of Clanestine's other mp3 ballads like "Peggy" and "Babylon". The vocal harmonies and fantastic imagery make this song shine. Clandestine has come a long way since I first saw them at the Texas Renaissance Festival. The magic is just beginning! "Hand of Love" by Aeone
Music as an awakening - Aeone is multi level listening. Clear ethereal vocals rise above full ambient grooves. Contrasting dulcimer and Uillean pipes and other woody instruments lie in lush and cinematic tracks with a touch of the ancient Celtic. Hypnotic and sensual - the unfolding of the nature of a woman in all her many guises - Aeone takes you through the journey of her life in a tapestry of story, voice, sound and rhythm, from which you may not return the same - or then again ...... If you like Enya, you're going to love Aeone! Aeone is the voice behind the soundtrack for the TNT mini-series "The Mists of Avalon". "Hands of Love" is a gorgeous track with haunting ethereal vocals that builds into a powerful anthem finish. Take a listen, then keep an ear open because Aeone is going places. "Buachalans Set" by Poor Man's Fortune
Combining the best of Irish, Breton and Scottish traditional music, Poor Man's Fortune features some of the most famous Celtic musicians in Texas and brings decades of experience to a stage. Well known throughout the region for their stirring and authentic interpretations of traditional Celtic dance music. Poor Man's Fortune also performs traditional Breton and Scottish ballads. If you've been on MP3.com for any length of time, no doubt you've heard of the New Zealand group, Lothlorien. Well, this band has a sound that reminds me of Lothlorien but this band is still together, and tearing up the Southwest with their incredible Breton and Irish tunes. This tune is composed of 3 Irish Reels: Up Against the Buachalans, the Glass of Beer and The Scholar. It's been on my favorites station for a month now because it is brilliantly performed. The flute sweeps along like a bird through the Texas Hill Country. No doubt in my mind, this song should be at the top of the charts fighting for positions with Lothorien and any of our music. If you like, great, professionally recorded music, you will LOVE this band.
