Well, well! An Irish makeover indeed it is! You can take traditional songs and redo them, but it
typically doesn't turn out well unless there is an overall vision for doing so. There is here. Right off the bat with track 1, "Molly Malone" you hear a new sound that works. I bet you didn't think this song could sound "cutting edge"...but it can, and does here. And the vocals are as smooth as butter. The electronic feel to some of the tracks might throw hardcore traditionalists, but for those who like to mix things up a bit, they'll be right on target.
Once known for being part of the band Metisse, this man ventures out now into new territory with Irish Makeover. Care has been taken here to retain the depth of emotion that goes with the traditional songs, but they have been updated and arranged for today's listener. This is a new look at the old stuff. And it's really, really great. Some don't miss tracks include Blackbird, Scarborough Fair and Red Is The Rose. It's an interesting take on traditional music with a clearly modern edge.

IRISH MAKEOVER is absoultely wonderful! From the first time I heard the "Skullyfied" version of these beloved folk songs I was hooked! I not only bought a copy of the CD as soon as it was available... but I bought copies for the kids too so they would leave mine be! LOL Three cheers to Skully for an amazing job of revamping the old right up into the now, as only he could!!!
Thank you Catherine for your 'right on target' review.
I enjoy Irish Makeover, again and again. Each time I listen I hear new exciting instrumental effects.
Brilliant work from a brilliant musician.
