Review: "The Parish Platform" by Rattle The Boards Sometimes I'll hear an Irish traditional band and get pulled back to the days when my Dad and his brothers would all sing together and have a grand 'ol time "getting their Irish on". This CD has such a sound. True Irish flavor with an "old days" touch. It's all here... jigs, reel, hornpipe and a soft song or two. The album is a great pick if you want a little of everything Ireland. There is no modern flash here. You'll get the real deal, and it sounds like it is played with heart and soul. I have to say I almost wished for more tracks. I was enjoying the sweet simplicity of this CD. That said, I must point out that the musicians here are no novices, just that they are content to play to their best and share their love of the music with those who listen to them. The band has been together since 1992, and there is no doubt they know their stuff. I can't emphasize enough that this CD sounds like the best guys from the neighborhood got together and cut an album. There is just that down-home Irish flavor to it.
