Traditional Irish music was their main influence, yet the songs and music of Kevin Flynn and the Avondale Ramblers are anything but traditional. In fact, the key to their unique sound is taking traditional Celtic/Gaelic music and expanding on it, finding their own sound...and presenting it in a new and interesting way. This Chicago-based band also does something different when it comes to their tunes. Lyrically, these Irish-inspired songs are about Chicago, not Ireland, but hold fast to the themes of the working-class, religious, drunken, sometimes violent (yet always somewhat beautiful) aspects of their city.
