David Hyams is not only an instrumentalist, but also a composer and producer who plays a variety of instruments in different styles. In fact, he has mastered his craft on acoustic, electric and steel guitars as well as mandolin and bouzouki. Not only does his musical history span participation in bands that played anything from the blues to progressive folk rock, David also is known for his instrumental accompaniment on a number of international artists.
In 1999, David released his first instrumental album, "Miles to Go," which is where his band got it's name. The band has featured some of WA's finest musicians from diverse musical backgrounds in a surprising and innovative combination; a rhythm section consisting of percussionist Caryn Sullivan alongside Waifs bassist Ben Franz, classical cellist Jennifer Tingley; vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Andy Copeman on cittern, didgeridoo, guitar, vocals and bodhran ; until recently the band featured Dougal Adams and Ormonde Waters on various wind instruments, including Irish and Scottish bagpipes.
In 2005, the band released its second CD, "Knowing the Place." Over the years, the band's profile has gained popularity, sparking a tour and the opportunity to open for well known international folk artists. The CD itself earned the band their second consecutive WA music Industry Association Awards nomination for "Best World Music Act".
